WHY HAVE A HOME INSPECTION?
SO MANY INSPECTORS... HOW DO I CHOOSE?
Are we not quite the right fit for you? No problem! But we want you to be protected no matter who you choose. When you call an inspector, remember - you are interviewing them for a job. A very important job! Be sure to ask them questions like:
-
How long have they been inspecting homes? Have they ever BUILT a home?
-
Will they walk the whole roof, or view from the edge with a ladder? How can one properly inspect without getting on the roof?
-
Will they crawl across the entire attic looking for roof leaks and dangerous electrical wiring, or only view from the platform?
-
How many hours will their inspection take? If the answer is less than 3 hrs, no matter the size, something is getting skipped!
-
Ask to see a sample report. Is it easy to follow and understand?
-
Is their report presented with short, easy to read bullet-point items, or do they write a long, difficult to understand narrative?
-
On the phone, do they sound helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable? Or do you feel like they don't want your business?
-
Is inspecting their sole occupation, or are they a 'weekend warrior'? Do they belong to professional inspector organizations?
-
Do they perform other inspections like termite, septic, & pool or will you need to search, schedule, and pay multiple inspectors?
-
Pricing is important, but is saving $50 or $100 worth the risk to your several hundred thousand dollar investment?
